President Trump signed into law Tuesday the Civil Rights Cold Case Records Collections Act of 2018, a landmark Civil Rights-related bill that was drafted by a New Jersey high school civics class.

Supporters say the bill will alleviate the long delays and massive redactions researchers typically encounter when investigating Civil Rights-era cases. It establishes a review board to determine what information can be released -- including cases that still haven’t been solved half a century later. The review board is independent of the FBI.
