The belief by Islamic extremists that those who leave the faith should be killed is similar to the iron-fisted ideology of totalitarian communism, says Dr. Andrew Bostom, a Middle East expert and professor of medicine at Brown University.
"This is no different than at the height of totalitarian communism, and still unfortunately a place like North Korea, criticizing Stalin or criticizing Mao," Bostom said Thursday on "The Steve Malzberg Show" on
Newsmax TV.
"It's absolutely no different, it's a form of religious totalitarianism."
Bostom is the author of
