A North Carolina man who opened fire with an assault rifle in a D.C. pizzeria pleaded guilty to two charges Friday, the Hill reports.
Edgar M. Welch, 28, entered guilty pleas to a federal charge of interstate transportation of ammunition and a firearm plus a D.C. charge of assault with a dangerous weapon.
The charges carry a maximum of 10 years in prison.
Welch last December traveled from North Carolina to Washington, D.C., to "self-investigate" conspiracy theories that Hillary Clinton and her campaign chief were running a sex sting operation from the Comet Ping Pong pizzeria.
He allegedly fired one or more shots off an AR-15 inside the restaurant.
Welch, wearing an orange prison jumpsuit and slip-on sneakers at his hearing, answered "yes, ma'am," when asked if he was pleading guilty because he is guilty, WTOP reports.
