Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., reveals she receives death threats “every day.”
In an interview with the Daily News in New York, she blamed negative coverage by “right-wing media” for an increase in the threats.
“It’s very clear that when right-wing media starts to heat up, that’s directly correlated to the amount of violent targeted threats we get,” she said.
Ocasio-Cortez noted the Capitol Police have advised her against making her schedule public.
“It’s a pretty regular thing, so we just have to be super vigilant,” she said.
As a result of the death threats, Capitol Police have trained her staff to perform risk assessments of her visitors, Time magazine is reporting.
