Billionaire Bill Gates is pouring millions of dollars into an effort to devise a new and better way to evaluate America's teachers. According to The New York Times, Gates is contributing $335 million to help major U.S. school systems in the United States find and perfect ways beyond mere statistics on student test scores to grade teachers and help them become better instructors.

“Some teachers are extremely good,” Gates told the Times. “And one of the goals is to say, you know, ‘Let’s go look at those teachers.’"

“It’s huge,” Deborah Loewenberg Ball, dean of the University of the Michigan School of Education told the Times. “They’re trying to do something nobody’s done before, and do it very quickly.”
