Sen. Ted Cruz appears to be mending fences with his once fierce rival, President Donald Trump.

Cruz spent some time at the White House Wednesday and met with Vice President Mike Pence. As evening fell, Cruz and his family dined with Trump and first lady Melania Trump.

The first couple, Cruz said, were "warm and gracious."

Cruz finished second to Trump in the Republican race for president. Trump criticized him hard on the campaign trail, once claiming that Cruz's father had something to do with the assassination of former President John F. Kennedy.

Trump also retweeted a split-screen image that depicted the two men's wives someone had put together. The photo of Cruz's wife Heidi was less than flattering.

Trump and Republican leaders in the House have begun a charm offensive aimed at convincing members of the GOP the American Health Care Act, a bill that was revealed this week, is the solution to fixing Obamacare.
