Herman Cain: Jay Carney Should Check His Numbers on Obamacare Impact

By    |   Wednesday, 17 July 2013 06:10 PM EDT

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney should recheck his claim that Obamacare is not reducing full-time employment, says former Godfather's Pizza CEO and GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain.

All Carney has to do is look at a report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics that shows that since the beginning of 2013, part-time hirings have beat full-time hirings by 3-1, Cain said Wednesday on Fox News Channel.

"I know Jay Carney's busy, but he needs to get somebody on his staff to go look at the numbers that's in the BLS report," Cain said.

The Affordable Care Act, pushed by President Barack Obama, "is imploding by the day," Cain said. "The administration is in denial."

The law takes effect Jan. 1, 2014, but the White House has delayed implementation of parts, including the employer mandate to provide insurance for all employees.

Cain believes the White House took the action partly because it didn't have all the rules written and didn't have ability to track results if somebody didn't comply. He also thinks negative feedback, including from Democrats, played a role.

Others have charged that the delays are intended to help Democrats in the 2014 midterm elections by keeping some of the harshest rules from taking effect until after the election.
