Son: Billy Graham So Weak a Cold Could Kill Him

The Rev. Billy Graham is so weak that a simple cold could kill him, his son, Franklin says.

The 95-year-old evangelist remains at his home in Montreat, N.C. following his November hospitalization, Charlotte's CBS affiliate WBTV

"His vitals are good. He is so weak though, just a cold could take his life," Franklin Graham said as he mingled with volunteers from his Samaritan's Purse charity as they loaded supplies for Syrian refugees.



"He could be this way for many months," the younger Graham added. "But he could also get his strength back."

Graham, the oldest of Billy Graham's five children, says the legendary evangelist "knows when I'm in the room," adding,"He recognizes me and will say a few words to me, but to be able to carry on a conversation has been difficult since Christmas."

Franklin Graham says his father is ready to go to Heaven. "Whenever that day comes, he's ready. He's worked hard all of his life and he's been faithful to preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ his entire life.

"We need him. He's a great father, a great friend and I enjoy having lunch with him every Sunday.

Graham also spoke to Charlotte's ABC affiliate, WCNC, saying, "My father is only okay. After his birthday he had an infection in his lungs. He has not been able to recover and regain his strength from that short hospital stay.

“We’re all concerned for him, but he’s stable. He’s at home and he’s comfortable.”
