Actress Rose McGowan was sent running along with other patrons at a Greenwich Village restaurant Friday night when someone threw a smoke bomb into the crowded establishment.
McGowan, of "Planet Terror" and "Charmed," was dining at Bar Pitti on Sixth Avenue near West Houston Street Friday evening when the assailant chucked the grenade-size smoke
bomb into the restaurant, the New York Daily News reported.
McGowan and others took to social media to express shock over the incident.
McGowan would later tell the website Gossip Cop that she was dining with a friend and her friend's 4-year-old son when she got "lost in the red smoke."
"My eyes still hurt," the actress said. "I thought it was a [real] bomb."
One restaurant employee told the Daily News that the smoke bomb initially caused chaos among customers.
"It was a big one . . . about the size of a grenade," the employee said. "Everybody panicked and half the people ran out. I'm just glad it wasn’t anything explosive."
