Kellogg's is replacing the art on its Corn Pops boxes after complaints on Twitter about a racially insensitive image.
The cereal company said Wednesday it would replace boxes showing cartoon Corn Pops at the mall after Twitter users complained the only brown Pop on the box was depicted as a janitor.
Marvel Comics and fantasy author Saladin Ahmed was the first to point out the image, tweeting Tuesday, “Why is literally the only brown corn pop on the whole cereal box the janitor? This is teaching kids racism.”
Kellogg's was quick to respond and right the perceived wrong, but Ahmed got plenty of flack from other Twitter users who felt he was pushing political correctness too far and being a little oversensitive about the whole situation.
But Ahmed felt vindicated by Kellogg’s response.
