Bengals Punter Kevin Huber Gets Fractured Jaw in Hit (Video)

By    |   Monday, 16 December 2013 02:07 PM EST

In what Twitter users are calling one of the hardest hits in recent NFL memory, Cincinnati Bengals punter Kevin Huber suffered a fractured jaw Sunday night after he got laid out by Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Terence Garvin.

Amazingly, there was no penalty flag on the play, though it's likely the NFL will slap Garvin with a fine, according to the New York Daily News.

The hit happened during the first quarter when Pittsburgh's Antonio Brown returned a punt from Huber, a fifth-year player on the Bengals. The punter was attempting to tackle Brown when Garvin slammed into him, helmet-to-helmet.

The play reportedly broke Huber's jaw and left him lying motionless on the field for a few minutes. He was later seen bleeding from the mouth as he walked off the field.

Bengals place kicker Mike Nugent filled in for Huber for the rest of the game, in which Cincinnati lost 30-20.

Twitter users reacted instantly to the hard hit, expressing support for Huber and wishes for a quick recovery.
