President Donald Trump said Friday that he was "disappointed" in how Congress has handled much of his agenda, including the failed effort to pass legislation last month to repeal and replace Obamacare.
"I'm disappointed," Trump said in response to a question from Fox News host Martha MacCallum about Congress' effectiveness on healthcare and other issues.
Regarding a planned vote on a revised plan that was postponed Thursday until next week, Trump said: "I'm disappointed that it didn't go a lot quicker."
He said that he "liked" many of the GOP legislators "a lot" — specifically praising House Speaker Paul Ryan.
"I'll tell you Paul Ryan's trying very, very hard," Trump said. "I think everybody is trying very hard. It is a very tough system."
Ryan twice pulled the American Health Care Act from a floor vote last month amid strong resistance from the conservative House Freedom Caucus.
The White House jump-started talks on a revised plan, but House leaders said the vote would take place next week.
Trump marks his 100th day in office on Saturday.
The president also disputed whether he would reach the milestone without a major legislative achievement.
"That's been wrong. That's really wrong," he told MacCallum. "First of all, we had 28 bills.
"I was with a reporter the other day who said the same thing: 'You didn't pass anything.'
"I said, 'No, we passed 28 bills.'
"And, by the way, tomorrow it could be 32."
