Sen. Hatch Tweets Praise for UK's May Amid Trump Criticism

Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, came to the defense of British PM Theresa May on Wednesday after she criticized President Donald Trump for his controversial anti-Islam retweets — and Trump punched back.

The tweet from Hatch's office included a picture of him and May at the prime minister's residence at 10 Downing Street in London last week — praise for her as "one of the great world leaders."

“PM @theresa_may is one of the great world leaders, I have incredible love and respect for her and for the way she leads the United Kingdom, especially in the face of turbulence.” -OGH

Though some British politicians have called for the UK to revoke Trump's invitation for a state visit, May announced Wednesday the invitation stands, Newsweek reported.
