Kasich Seen Making 2016 Presidential Bid

John Kasich may be interested in a bid for the presidency in 2016, a former House colleague of the Republican Ohio governor told Newmax.

Kasich, who served in Congress from 1980-2000 and was House Budget Committee chairman, briefly explored but finally opted against a run for the top job in 2000.

In 2010, Kasich defeated Democratic Gov. Ted Strickland in a close race with 49.04 percent of the vote, compared to Strickland’s 47.04 percent.

Kasich, who appears a strong favorite for re-election next year, will be 64 in 2016 — putting him among the oldest of the prospective GOP presidential prospects.
