A Democratic senator used President-elect Donald Trump's branded water while questioning Trump's nominee to head the EPA Wednesday.
Sen. Ed Markey of Massachusetts pulled out a bottle of Trump Water as he tried to make a point about Americans' access to clean water, according to the Washington Examiner.
"Trump Water is natural, spring water," Markey said to Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt. "On the label it says, 'pure, fresh and free from contaminants. This is water the way it was meant to be.'"
Markey added that people staying at Trump hotels have "the luxury of drinking this water if they don't trust what comes out of the tap," while people in low-income communities "do not have the same luxury.
"Do you believe that the EPA plays a critical role in ensuring that all Americans regardless of racial, ethnic or economic backgrounds have a right to clean water free from contaminants?"
Pruitt responded, "Absolutely. I believe it's a very important role of the EPA administrator."
Pruitt was nominated to lead the EPA on Dec. 7. Legislators and Republican environmental groups praised the choice, with Utah Sen. Orrin Hatch saying Pruitt is the "go-to leader in resisting the Obama EPA's regulatory overreach."
