President Donald Trump can still access Twitter while in China despite the country’s ban on the social media network, the Washington Examiner reports.
"The president will tweet whenever he wants. That's his way of communicating directly with the American people," a senior administration official told reporters while flying to Beijing on Air Force One Wednesday.
A reporter then asked if Trump will tweet in China.
"Yeah, why not? Why not?" the spokesman replied. "So long as he can access his Twitter account because Twitter is banned in China. So is Facebook and, of course, most of the other social media."
He added, according to The Guardian, "I’m sure we’ve got the gear aboard this airplane to make it happen. But it is noteworthy that none of the major western platforms for social media are even allowed to operate in China."
Trump did tweet later Wednesday morning.
