Forty-four percent of Americans oppose President Donald Trump's tax plan while only 28 percent approve of it, according to a news ABC News/Washington Post poll released on Tuesday.
Another 28 percent remain undecided about his plan for tax reform.
Here are highlights from the survey:
- 51 percent believe Trump's plan mainly reduces taxes on the wealthy, compared to 10 percent who say it primarily reduces taxes on the middle class. Twenty four percent say it treats the wealthy and middle class equally
- 78 percent support cutting taxes on middle and lower-income Americans, while 19 percent are against it
- 33 percent favor trimming taxes on those with higher incomes, while 62 percent oppose it
- 45 percent say they back cutting taxes paid by businesses, compared to 48 percent who are against it
The poll, which was conducted Sept. 18 - 21, sampled 1,002 people. It has a margin of error of 3.5 percentage points.
