Former 10-day White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci took to Twitter to label New Yorker reporter Ryan Lizza "the Linda Tripp of 2017."

Tripp is of Monica Lewinsky infamy, having been the intern's confidante about her extramarital affair with then President Bill Clinton and later taping a conversation with Lewinsky.

In this case, Lizza taped then reported on the infamous phone call made by Scaramucci during which he unleashed a profanity-laced tirade against former White House chief of staff Reince Priebus and chief strategist Stephen Bannon.

Consequently, Scaramucci, thought to be Priebus' successor if the former RNC chair either quit or was fired, was subsequently shown the door once John Kelly was named chief of staff to replace, ironically, Priebus.

Though everyone agrees the explosive parts of the call were on the record, the New York financier is now mad that Lizza taped the call, calling him a #lowlife.

Scaramucci's promise to go away for awhile was short-lived; in addition to the tweets, he has agreed to appear on "The Late Show With Stephen Colbert" on Monday. The late-night comedian had a field day with Scaramucci, calling him "The Mooch" and playing up the fact that Scaramucci was a "front-stabber," not a back-stabber.
