Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump's travel businesses have taken a hit during his run for president, according to CBS News.
A recent survey by Travel Weekly showed 61 percent of travel agents had stopped recommending Trump-branded hotels and resorts since the billionaire began his candidacy.
Arnie Weissmann, editor-in-chief of the publication, said Trump's inflammatory and controversial comments have negatively impacted bookings. Further, videotape of Trump bragging about groping and kissing women could be an additional reason for the fall in bookings.
"Travel agents are overwhelmingly women," Weissmann said. "Travel decisions are made overwhelmingly by women. We surveyed our readership recently, and they said that 50% of their clients are proactively saying, 'Don't put me in a Trump hotel.'"
Meanwhile, Foursquare data shows that the visit share to Trump properties in September 2016 was down 19 percent compared with two years prior.
Trump boasted he'd be living few blocks away from the Capitol even if he weren't to make it to the White House, in his newest property -- Trump International Hotel Washington, D.C..
"We're just opening up on Pennsylvania Avenue right next to the White House, so if I don't get there one way, I'm going to get to Pennsylvania Avenue another," Trump was quoted as saying.
His new hotel is the latest addition to his travel industry portfolio which comprises several U.S. hotels, 17 golf clubs and a winery, among other things.
