Pete King After Kerry Meeting: Iran Nuclear Deal 'Wrong and Arrogant'

Wednesday, 22 July 2015 11:10 PM EDT

Rep. Pete King issued the following statement Wednesday after meeting with Secretary of State John Kerry to discuss the Iran nuclear deal.

I attended a classified briefing conducted by Sec. of State John Kerry on the nuclear agreement with Iran. I left the briefing still convinced that this is a bad deal for America. I was particularly angry by Sec. Kerry telling us that Iran would feel "betrayed" if Congress rejects this agreement. He also said that the United States would be isolated if we reject this flawed deal because the U.N. has approved it. I have 2 comments: (1) I am not concerned about Iran feeling betrayed. My job is to protect America's national security. Also it was Kerry's job to let Iran know of the role of Congress. (2) It was entirely wrong and arrogant for the Obama administration to submit the deal to the U.N. before Congress voted on it.

It is definitely my intention to vote NO on this deal with Iran.
