GOP front-runner Donald Trump says he hopes the Pentagon's recent announcement that women will be given opportunity to participate in all combat positions works out, but he's wary.
"It's a very tricky subject," Trump said in an interview aired Sunday on
"Face the Nation." "I mean you're in there and you're fighting, and you're sitting next to a woman, I mean …"
The Pentagon wants to be politically correct, he said, but added "there are major problems." He also noted that "there are many people who think it shouldn't be done at a high level, at a level of general.
"I think that it's a very tricky situation," Trump said. "Will it work out? I hope so. I can say this: The numbers of rapes in the military are through the roof, through the roof."
