Showing insensitivity towards the Syrian refugee crisis, Donald Trump's eldest son compared the situation to a bowl of Skittles, Politico reports.

Trump Jr.'s tweet came in the backdrop of the arrest of the New York City-New Jersey weekend bombing suspect Ahmad Khan Rahami, who was born in Afghanistan. Saturday's bombings left 29 people wounded in Manhattan and forced the cancellation of a U.S. Marine Corps race in New Jersey.
On the same day, a Somali-American with possible links to the Islamic State went on a stabbing rampage in Minnesota, injuring 10 people.
Trump's tweet caused an uproar on the social networking site.
Sharing the viral image of the young Syrian refugee boy who was covered in dirt after being saved from a building that was hit with a bomb, President Barack Obama's former chief speechwriter Jon Favreau wrote:

Meanwhile, the maker of Skittles distanced themselves from the comment. In an email to CNBC a spokesperson at Wrigley said:
"Skittles are candy. Refugees are people. We don't feel it's an appropriate analogy. We will respectfully refrain from further commentary as anything we say could be misinterpreted as marketing."
Donald Trump has repeatedly shown disinterest in the refugee crisis and called for restrictions or bans on them, urging more strict "vetting" to make sure no dangerous people enter the country.
