Melania Trump to Attend Correspondents' Dinner

By    |   Monday, 20 April 2026 10:42 AM EDT

First lady Melania Trump will attend this Saturday's White House Correspondents' Association dinner, The Hill reported on Monday.

The annual black-tie gathering, hosted this year at the Washington Hilton, will also mark President Donald Trump's return to the event as commander in chief after he boycotted it throughout his first term.

Trump confirmed last month that he would attend Saturday's dinner, signaling a break from his earlier stance toward the event.

Trump said in a social media post last month that "in honor of our nation's 250th birthday … it will be my honor to accept their invitation," adding that he aimed to make it the "greatest … dinner, of any kind, ever."

Trump last attended the dinner in 2015, prior to taking office, but Melania Trump did not accompany him at that time.

The dinner, organized by the White House Correspondents' Association, serves as both a social gathering for journalists, lawmakers, and public figures and a fundraiser for journalism scholarships.

Entertainer Oz Pearlman is set to headline the evening's program.

The WHCA dinner has long been a fixture of Washington's social calendar, drawing a mix of political leaders, media figures, and celebrities, even as it has faced periodic criticism over the relationship between the press and the officials they cover.
