Grammy-winning rock group 3 Doors Down will premiere its new single— and legendary rockers Lynyrd Skynyrd will be among the entertainers performing at the Republican National Convention in Tampa next week, the 2012 Republican National Committee announced on Friday.

3 Doors Down will introduce its “One Light” single on Tuesday night at the Tampa Bay Times Forum, the committee said. The group has sold more than 20 million CDs worldwide and has performed more than 1,000 shows in nearly 40 countries since its debut in 2000.

Skynyrd, whose Southern rock signature hits like “Sweet Home Alabama” and “Freebird” have solidified the band in the nation’s musical lore, will perform Monday night.

"We’ve booked outstanding performers and world-famous acts," RNC Chairman Reince Priebus said. "The convention attendees will be treated to special performances they will remember for a very long time."

Performers will cover the spectrum of music genres, Priebus said, “everything from pop and rock to country and gospel."

"We are honored to be asked to play the RNC and are excited about our performance," said Brad Arnold, lead singer of 3 Doors Down. "We consider it a privilege."

Other performers include the Oak Ridge Boys, Neal Boyd, Randy Owens, Jack Blades of Night Ranger, American Idol winner Taylor Hicks and gospel artist BeBe Winans.
