MADISON, Wis.  — Wisconsin has become one of the last states to approve allowing permit-holders to carry concealed weapons.

State lawmakers on Tuesday gave final bipartisan support to a measure legalizing concealed carry and sent it to Republican Gov. Scott Walker. He's expected to quickly sign it into law.

Once that happens, Illinois will be left as the only state that bans carrying guns, knives and other concealed weapons.

Under Wisconsin's new law, people would have to obtain a permit and get training in order to carry a concealed weapon. Concealed guns would be allowed in most public buildings, but they couldn't be brought in anywhere that has a posted sign saying they aren't permitted.

The Wisconsin law will take effect in either October or November, depending on when Walker signs it.
