Cindy McCain, wife of 2008 Republican presidential nominee Sen. John McCain, is lambasting the negative portrayal of her husband’s running mate, Sarah Palin, in the HBO movie “Game Change.”

The movie, set to premiere on HBO on Saturday, is based on a book with the same name.

“I’m truly sorry if they depicted her in any fashion other than a strong and independent woman," McCain said on CNN’s “Piers Morgan Tonight,” Politico reports. “I think what happened to her was entirely unfair.”

McCain has no intention of watching the movie. “I am not going to see ‘Game Change.’ I lived this, and from everything I’ve read and heard, it doesn’t even resemble what took place. I can go to Disneyland for fiction,” she said.

But she was able to get a laugh out of the movie. “I will say, Ed Harris [who plays John McCain] is not nearly as cute as my husband,” she quipped.

Sen. McCain isn’t too hot on the movie or the book, either. “It’s based on a book that is full of unattributed quotes, things that absolutely never happened,” he told CBS Monday. “And if it’s based on that book, which I was briefed on, then, of course, it can’t be accurate.”
