Portland, Maine, police arrested a man dressed as a tree Monday after they were called to the scene where the man was blocking traffic.
The Portland Press Herald reported Asher A. Woodworth, 30, would not cooperate with police when he was told to move from the busy intersection in downtown Portland.
Video of Woodworth in the tree outfit surfaced on social media shortly after.
Woodworth was taken to the Cumberland County Jail before being released Monday night after making a $60 bail.
“His motivation was to see how people would react to what he called his ‘performance’ and how he might impact ‘people’s natural choreography,’” said Assistant Police Chief Vern Malloch, the Press Herald reported.
After police arrested Woodworth, they confiscated the tree outfit and gave it to Public Works to dispose of, CBS affiliate WGME reported.
Twitter users found the man dressed as a tree perfect fodder for puns.
