Americans for Tax Reform leader Grover Norquist is either having the worst few weeks of his life or the best.

It’s hard to tell. His anti-tax pledge, and the immense power he’s wielded in Washington for decades because of it, has become a hotly debated topic among congressional insiders and Capitol Hill watchers who wonder if its days are numbered.

Though Norquist is resolute, Republican senators including Saxby Chambliss (Ga.), Lindsey Graham (S.C.) and Bob Corker (Tenn.) as well as House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (Va.) have all indicated recently that the pledge might not be as ironclad as it once was.
