DES MOINES, Iowa — Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is visiting the Iowa State Fair as speculation about a possible presidential bid is mounting.

The 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee has said she'll decide by the end of summer whether to get into the crowded race.

Palin and her family inspected cattle at the fair during her stop in Des Moines on Friday. The visit came one day after the Republican politicians already in the race held a debate in nearby Ames. And on Saturday, there's an important early test vote among Iowa activists — a straw poll.

Journalists crowded barn walkways as Palin toured fair exhibits.
