Freshman Rep. Allen West, R-Fla., is bringing out a big gun as his “special guest” at a Washington, D.C., fundraiser next week — former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, The Huffington Post reports.

The event is a $500-per-plate breakfast Oct. 27 at Capitol Decisions Inc. on Capitol Hill.

Those who pay $2,500 receive a free, signed copy of Rumsfeld's latest book, "Known and Unknown."

As evidence of Rumsfeld’s star status, the campaign flyer announcing the event has his name in bigger type than West’s.

The two reportedly know each other from their days in the military. West spent more than 20 years of active duty in the Army.
