Rep. Tim Murphy, R-Pa., has been mentioned frequently as a possible opponent for incumbent Democratic Sen. Bob Casey Jr. next year. But Murphy says he won’t run, The Hill reports.

He told the Washington, Pa. Observer-Reporter that he doesn’t "have the time" for the Senate race because of his duties in the Naval Reserve Medical Corps.

Despite the economy’s slump, Republicans will have a tough time dislodging Casey, as the state continues to skew Democratic. In addition, Casey is a moderate who can appeal to independents. He is perhaps best known for his anti-abortion rights stance, which is shared by his father, a former Pennsylvania governor.

A Public Policy Polling survey in July showed Casey with a 12-point lead over Murphy.
