After the results of last month’s elections, many insurgent Republicans are tempted to challenge established leaders in their party. Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, is one of the insurgents. He has formed a new PAC to donate money to fellow Republicans, raising his status as he considers a primary run against six-term incumbent Sen. Orrin Hatch, The Hill reports.

Jason Chaffetz, Utah, Orrin HatchThe PAC is called BudgetHawks.com. "Congress is a team sport, and I want to do everything I can to help my fellow Republicans," Chaffetz (pictured) told the Ballot Box. "I was actually amazed that BudgetHawks.com was available."

Chaffetz will target candidates "who have shown a commitment to cutting the budget deficit." Chaffetz says he is contemplating a contest against Hatch.

"He's a good senator, he's a conservative senator," Chaffetz says. "I still might run against him."
