Now that climategate has exposed global warming to be the greatest scientific and political fraud in history, the new demon is carbon dioxide: So every time you exhale, you’re now polluting the atmosphere.

Indeed, carbon dioxide threatens “the public health and welfare of the American people,” according to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

President Obama is the chief culprit in this absurdity, but the Supreme Court bears some of the blame as well. It ruled back in 2007 that carbon dioxide could be classified as a pollutant under the Clean Air Act. But it also said that, before the EPA could act to restrict this “pollutant,” it would have to show that it actually damaged the public health.

Climategate was already the biggest fraud in the history of science, and it is starting to have more twists and turns than an Agatha Christie novel. Each hoax is more preposterous and insane than the previous one.

“CO2 for different people has different attractions," says Richard S. Lindzen, an atmospheric science professor at MIT. "After all, what is it? It’s not a pollutant. It’s a product of every living creature’s breathing. It’s the product of all plant respiration. It is essential for plant life and photosynthesis. It’s a product of all industrial burning. It’s a product of driving. I mean, if you ever wanted a leverage point to control everything from exhalation to driving, this would be a dream. So it has a kind of fundamental attractiveness to bureaucratic mentality.”

Echoing that view is Robert C. Balling Jr., a climatology professor at Arizona State University, who says: “To suddenly label CO2 as a ‘pollutant’ is a disservice to a gas that has played an enormous role in the development and sustainability of all life on this wonderful earth. Mother Earth has clearly ruled that CO2 is not a pollutant.”

Meanwhile, Watts Up With That — the leading blog on the true science of climate change — has published a very thorough and technical analysis demonstrating that the release of the documents proving that climate change was a hoax came from an inside whistle-blower, instead of from some Russian hacker. His identity has not been released.

This is important, because the climate changers have been using the hacking as an illegal act in an effort to mitigate the impact of the released messages that show that global warming is a scam. The moochers and the looters have attempted to disqualify the evidence on the grounds that it was obtained illegally.

The New York Times, of FISA and NSA leak fame, said it would not run the e-mails, as they were private — heh. Otherwise, they’re denying that their hoax has been exposed at all.

White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs dismissed the fraud: “I think there’s no real scientific basis for the dispute of this” — that is, anthropogenic global warming.

EPA chief Lisa Jackson claimed that “there is nothing in the hacked e-mails that undermines the science upon which this decision is based.”

Global warming czar Carol Browner insisted: “There has been for a very long time a very small group of people who continue to say this isn’t a real problem, that we don’t need to do anything. On the other hand, we have 2,500 of the world’s foremost scientists who are in absolute agreement that this is a real problem and that we need to do something and we need to do something as soon as possible. What am I going to do, side with the couple of naysayers out there, or the 2,500 scientists? I’m sticking with the 2,500 scientists. I mean, these people have been studying this issue for a very, very long time, and agree that the problem is real.”

The possibility that they came to that agreement based on fraudulent data didn’t bother her.

Obama must have been lying when he appointed his science czar, John P. Holdren. Back then, he said that science was “about ensuring that facts and evidence are never twisted or obscured by politics or ideology. It’s about listening to what our scientists have to say, even when it’s inconvenient — especially when it’s inconvenient.”

Except when Obama is the one who is inconvenienced.

Good vs. evil: Sarah Palin said it best as she showed up Obama’s hypocrisy: “Policy should be based on sound science, not snake oil. . . Policy decisions require real science and real solutions, not junk science and doomsday scare tactics pushed by an environmental priesthood that capitalizes on the public’s worry and makes them feel that owning an SUV is a ‘sin’ against the planet.”

The global warming hoax is not about the environment. It’s an excuse for Obama to redistribute the wealth on an international scale and victimize the producers in favor of moochers and looters. The hoax has been exposed. Now his global socialist agenda (an agenda fully exposed in my book "The Post-American Presidency," which Robert Spencer and I are preparing for summer publication by Simon and Schuster) must be stopped.
