The latest NewsmaxZogby Tracking Polls in three swing states show Mitt Romney falling six percentage points behind President Barack Obama in Ohio, but maintaining a lead in Virginia and narrowing Obama’s margin in Florida.

The GOP challenger, who trailed Obama by 4 points in the 3-day survey completed in Ohio on Monday, now trails Obama 50 percent to 44 percent in the poll of 826 likely voters completed on Tuesday, one week before Election Day.

“Ohio is looking better and better for Obama,” says pollster John Zogby.

Urgent Poll: One Week Until Election Day. Obama or Romney?

“Romney is running an ad trashing the auto bailout and not getting good grades from local media for the effort.

“Obama’s lead is growing daily but a week is an eternity.”

In Virginia, Romney led by 4 points in the poll completed Monday, but his edge there is down to a slim 1 point in the latest poll, 48 percent to 47 percent, with 5 percent still undecided.

“The election is getting closer in time and staying close in numbers,” Zogby tells Newsmax. “Did the president get a slight boost from the hurricane?”

Romney and Obama are in a virtual tie in Florida, with Romney at 47.7 percent and Obama at 47.4 percent. Obama led by a full point in the earlier poll.

“Interestingly, two prominent pollsters have pulled out of Florida declaring it won by Romney,” says Zogby. “On the other hand, several of my colleagues are coming around to my numbers.

“This is very close and we will stay until the end.”

The NewsmaxZogby poll is a joint venture between Newsmax and New York State-based pollster John Zogby. Tracking polls are being conducted in Ohio, Florida, and Virginia, and nationally right up to Election Day.
