Real estate mogul Donald Trump called the decision to have Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wisc., anchor the GOP ticket bold, energizing, and courageous.

Trump, appearing on CNBC, warned that Democrats would go all out to attack Ryan’s plan to reform Medicare and worried Mitt Romney might have handed the opposition an easy issue. Nonetheless, he concluded it was a good move.

"It's a bold pick, and it really has energized the Republican Party," he said according to CNBC. "It was a courageous pick in a certain way. He had to (do) something and something was done. Whether it was a great pick or not we're going to find out in 90 days."

Trump said marketing will be key to fighting back on the issue.

"You talk about demagoguery, (Democrats) are demagoguing to the point where it's almost — Medicare, everything's being taken away from you, you're going to be destroyed, you're going to have to live in the streets," Trump told CNBC. "That's hard to counter."

In true Trump fashion, The Donald teased the audience when asked what his role at the GOP convention would be. He said he has been asked to speak and to do something "really big, really amazing" as well. He would not elaborate despite prodding and would only say there was "filming" today, "something special going on today" that viewers would see in two weeks at the Tampa convention.

"I really can't say, all I can say is the end result will be amazing," Trump teased, adding that it would be "very exciting."
