Ron Paul Announces Presidential Bid

Texas Republican Rep. Ron Paul made it official.

"At this moment, I am officially announcing that I am a candidate for president in the Republican primary," he said on ABC's "Good Morning America."

"The time has come around to the point where the people are agreeing with much of what I've been saying for 30 years," he said. "So I think the time is right."

The outspoken libertarian made the announcement ahead of a town hall rally in Exeter, New Hampshire, Fox News reported. Paul has been raisig funds over the past several weeks and had formed an exploratory committe. His aides had said Thursday he would announce today.
