LIGNET: Assad Immunity May Be Solution to Syrian Conflict

The London Guardian reported this week that the United States and the UK are considering offering Syrian President Bashar al-Assad immunity from prosecution if he agrees to leave office. Any deal that gave Assad immunity or clemency, or offered him safe harbor in another country, would outrage many Syrians. But it may be the only solution to the violent conflict in Syria that has so far claimed 14,000 lives.
