Stalwart conservative GOP Rep. Steve King of Iowa says he will enthusiastically back whoever wins the Republican presidential nomination, but he expressed concern about front-runner Mitt Romney’s potential judicial appointments at a town hall in Iowa Thursday night.

"I wouldn’t be as confident for his appointments to the federal court as I would be if it were Rick Santorum,” King said, according to Politico. “And Rick Santorum understands the Constitution and American exceptionalism and the movement of America’s culture, what makes us great."

King also said he’s "uneasy" about how Romney will handle the healthcare reform law. "He is right that his healthcare proposal, actual law in Massachusetts, is constitutional for a state, not for the federal government," King said, referring to the healthcare reform Romney implemented as governor of Massachusetts. "He’s made that case over and over again. No one has more to prove on what constitutes repealing Obamacare than Romney."

On the plus side, King is impressed with Romney’s commitment to repealing the Dodd-Frank and Sarbanes-Oxley financial laws. "That’s a pretty big financial statement from where I sit," he said. "So if he will repeal Obamacare and the rest of the financial rules this way, we can have ourselves a pretty good president."
