Canada's immigration website crashed Tuesday night as results poured in from the United States presidential election.
Several reports claimed the website, cig.gc.ca, was down around 11 p.m. ET. Newsmax tried accessing the website shortly before midnight Wednesday and it was still down.
Many Americans have promised to move to Canada if Republican Donald Trump wins the presidential election over Democrat Hillary Clinton. With Trump picking off crucial states and carving a path that seemed to be leading him to the White House, it can be assumed that those same Americans flocked to their northern neighbor's immigration site and overloaded the system.
Newsmax recently compiled a list of nine celebrities who vowed to move out of the U.S. under a President Trump.
In March during the primary season, "How can I move to Canada?" was a trending question on Google.
