Palin: 'I Have Got the Fire in My Belly' To Run Again — if Needed

Thursday, 16 February 2012 02:03 PM EST

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin said that she has “the fire in my belly” to make another run for political office. The former GOP vice presidential candidate also suggested she might be willing to step forward should the scenario of a brokered presidential convention occur, CBS News’ Political Hotsheet reported.

Palin made her comments during an interview with Fox Business’ Eric Bolling. She said that a brokered convention in Tampa in August was possible.

"If it had to be kind of closed up today, the whole nominating process, then we would be looking at a brokered convention,” she said according to CBS. “I mean, nobody is quite there yet, so I think that months from now, if that is the case, then you know, all bets are off as to who it will be, willing to offer themselves up in their name in service to their country. I would do whatever I could to help."

In the interview she also said she could not “predict what will happen in the future, but I know that I have got the fire in my belly to try to help, to try to make a difference and if that involves running for public office at some point in the future, I'm game for that."
