Crossroads Ad Hits At ‘Cool’ Obama

President Barack Obama is the biggest celebrity in the world — but that doesn’t make him a good head of state, an eye-catching new ad from Karl Rove’s American Crossroads super PAC points out.

Clips of Obama dancing with Ellen DeGeneres, singing Al Green, sipping beer, calling rapper Kanye West a jackass and “slow-jamming” the news with Jimmy Fallon are spliced together in the 30-second slot, called “Cool.”

“Four years ago America elected the biggest celebrity in the world. And America got one cool president,” the ad says.

But after the feel-good start, the ad gets serious, claiming, “But after four years of a celebrity president, one in two recent college grads are jobless or underemployed, 85 percent [are] moving back in with their parents, student loan debt exceeds $1 trillion.”

It then ends with the question, “After four years of a celebrity president, is your life any better?”

The constant throb of a crowd chanting “Four More Years” — without the actual words — provide a soundtrack to the ad which carries no spoken commentary.

Commenting on the ad, The Daily Caller’s Matt Lewis said Republicans are concerned that “Obama will become the Mac to Romney’s PC.” He says the ad sets out to say, “If you want a cool 'celebrity' president, go with Obama. But if you want a serious leader, pick Mitt. “
