Hillary Doubts Taliban Will Give up Violence

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is expressing strong doubts that Taliban leaders will change the path of violence they are now following.

The secretary of state said she is highly skeptical that Taliban leaders would be willing to meet what the U.S. sees are the necessary conditions of renouncing violence and accepting the Afghan Constitution.

According to Clinton, the U.S. government has no firm information whether any of those in the Taliban leadership would be interested in following a path to peace.
