Rep. Tom Price, R-Ga., proclaimed it a “great day” after a federal district judge in northern Florida ruled that the individual mandate in the Affordable Care and Patient Protection Act, which requires individuals to purchase healthcare insurance, expands federal powers beyond its constitutional limitations.
“This is huge,” Price told Newsmax.TV in an exclusive interview shortly after the decision was announced. “What this says is a federal judge recognizes that freedom and liberty still hold in this country.”
Rep. Price added that he is asking the Supreme Court to provide an expedited review of the judge’s ruling, which federal lawyers are now expected to appeal, so the legality of Democratic healthcare reforms can be clarified once and for all.
