Mike Huckabee’s loss is Tim Pawlenty’s gain. Huckabee’s daughter, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the political director of the former Arkansas governor’s 2008 presidential bid, has joined Pawlenty’s campaign,
Politico reports.
Sanders, a senior political adviser to Pawlenty, started work Tuesday at his Iowa headquarters.
She will be “taking the lead for the campaign on the Iowa Straw Poll effort,” the Pawlenty camp told Politico. Pawlenty already has the biggest Iowa operation of any Republican candidate.
Huckabee won the Iowa primary in 2008, so the Pawlenty campaign obviously hopes that Sanders can work the same magic for the former Minnesota governor.
“It’s clear to me that Governor Pawlenty has what it takes to unite the party, unite the country, and beat President Obama,” Sanders said.
