Murdoch Pumps $1M into Chamber of Commerce

News Corp. Chairman and CEO Rupert Murdoch has donated $1 million to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, which is a strong advocate of the Republican effort to retake control of Congress in the upcoming midterm elections. According to Politico, Murdoch also gave $1 million to the Republican Governors Association in June.

The Chamber of Commerce has stated that it plans to spend $75 million in advance of the November midterm elections, and it already has aired more than 8,000 TV ads in support of GOP Senate candidates.

"The chamber has been and will continue to be engaged in the issue debate in this election cycle, focusing our efforts on educating voters about where candidates stand on policies that create jobs,” a spokesman for the organization told Politico.
