The Obama White House likes to pride itself on its technological savvy. But it goofed up in sending Email invitation to dozens of businesses in Northeast Ohio for a meeting with President Barack Obama next week in Cleveland, The Cleveland Plain Dealer
Several of the Emails went directly into the business’ spam folders. One problem was the sender identification: “FN-WHO-OPERSVP” for the Office of Public Engagement. The subject line read: "IMPORTANT RSVP Information for Small Business Forum."
But even some businesses which received the Email in their regular in-boxes were suspicious, as the Email began "Dear Friend" and requested information including a Social Security number.
When Gladys Benitez-Reilly, president of Viva Spanish!, a Spanish-teaching service, received her invitation, her son told her it must be spam, The Plain Dealer reports. "The White House would have sent you a registered letter," the high school student told his mother.
