Touting his state’s 6-percent unemployment rate, Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell said Sunday the federal government should take a lesson from “what states are doing” to create jobs, according to
Politico.
McDonnell, appearing on CNN’s “State of the Union,” said increased taxation, regulation, and spending are the last things the country needs.
“That’s not the path to success,” the chairman of the Republican Governors Association said. “They’ve got to cut spending, and they’ve got to lessen the unfunded mandates in the states.”
McDonnell said President Barack Obama’s three years in the White house have done nothing to repair the damaged economy, Politico.com reported.
“We need to have things that create jobs, not just promote benefits for people that aren’t working,” McDonnell said.
