McConnell: Dems Might Steer Clear of Obama

Republicans scored huge victories yesterday by associating their Democratic opponents with the unpopular policies of President Barack Obama. So it stands to reason that Democrats who are still in office might want to steer clear of the president’s agenda if they want to keep their jobs. That’s what Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said in an appearance today with probable new House Speaker John Boehner and Republican Governors Association Chairman Haley Barbour, The Hill reports.

Yesterday’s lesson for Democrats is that "choosing the president over your own constituents is not a good strategy," McConnell says

Yesterday’s election was a "first step" to Republican victories, whether that comes through winning over Democrats on issues in the next two years, or through winning more seats in the 2012 elections, he says.
