The Republican Party has taken an “unprecedented” approach to the 2012 election by leaning toward sending a moderate candidate to the primary instead of a conservative, Rush Limbaugh said Wednesday night on Fox News.

The strategy will put the party “in prison” with its shift to the center,
Limbaugh said.

“The Republican establishment has decided they don’t want any part of
conservatism,” he told host Greta Van Susteren. “The Republican establishment thinks that a conservative nominee is the route to defeat.”

The talk-radio host said he believes his party doesn’t think President
Barack Obama can be beaten. He has a different opinion. He said if the
election took place today, Obama would lose in a landslide, describing him as “eminently defeatable.”

“He thinks of it [America] as criminal . . . as guilty,” Limbaugh said. “I think that Obama wants the people of this country to find out what it’s like to live the way he thinks we have forced other people around the world to live. He said it . . . at Osawatomie, Kansas.”

Asked whether he believes that Obama is a “bad guy,” Limbaugh answered, “The answer to the question is irrelevant.”

The president’s policies are “injurious” and target Americans who work and pay taxes, he said.

“Is he an ideologue?” Limbaugh said. “Is he a Marxist-socialist who has an agenda that’s oriented toward cutting the country down to size?”

The unemployment rate is bunk because there are 2.5 million fewer jobs in the country than when Obama took office, he said.

Asked who is the most conservative GOP candidate, Limbaugh answered, “Anybody other than Ron Paul.”
