House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Rogers, like many others, is worried about weapons getting into the wrong hands in Libya.

President Barack Obama should immediately send personnel there to make sure shoulder-fired anti-aircraft missiles and chemical weapon components don’t end up causing us harm, he said, according to Politico.

“We think those weapons systems are moving around [now that Moammar Gadhafi has been tossed out power,] and that is a very dangerous scenario,” Rogers said at a breakfast event in Washington. “I don’t know why we’re taking the course that we are or the time that we are to solve this problem. Those anti-aircraft missiles are incredibly lethal in the hands of bad actors.”

U.S. teams, including military personnel, trained in identifying and dismantling chemical weapons should be sent to Libya, but the Obama administration is dragging its feet because of the president’s promise not to send ground troops there, Rogers said.
